Rhea Allen
Instrument: Cello
Rhea played clarinet in the Muscatine
Symphony Orchestra for three years, beginning in
2000. Prior to playing in the MSO, she played clarinet
at L-M High School and the University of Iowa. At
one time, the MSO had a whole row of clarinet players
and not many strings. As Rhea had always wanted
to learn to play a string instrument, she started
taking lessons on the cello in 2002. She has played
cello in MSO for the past several seasons - since
2004. She continues to take lessons from her teacher,
Wendy Enters, who plays in the Cedar Rapids Symphony.
Rhea’s full time job is Emergency Department
Physician for Trinity Muscatine. She is also on
the Board of Directors for the West Liberty Community
School District.
She and her husband, Rod, live on their farm near
Nichols, Iowa. Rod farms full time, Rhea helps out
a little and enjoys a menagerie of dogs, cats, and
horses.
The Allens have two children: Liz, who is married
and lives in Davenport, and Thomas, who is a junior
at West Liberty High School.
