Our goal is to build a strong foundation, this being of financial support, a solid core group of players, outreach to the community; but, a musical ceiling that has no boundaries. Our promise to the community is to always strive, to always challenge, to always seek improvement on this pathway to excellence.

Mission statement:
"The mission of the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra Association is to enrich the cultural life of the Greater Muscatine Community by presenting and maintaining symphonic music of the highest quality and by providing comprehensive music education opportunities to the Muscatine area."

The orchestra is comprised of volunteer musicians from the community, with additional players from the surrounding communities who are engaged to supplement sections when needed.

Auditions for placement within each section will be held the first rehearsal of each semester. New members will play a short audition for an independent panel of judges which may include the section principal. Audition excerpts, scales, solo/etude, possibly sight reading (usually 7-10 minutes total).

Rehearsals are held every Monday evening from 6:30-9:00 p.m. in Strahan Hall at Muscatine Community College. Additional rehearsals are scheduled before each concert.

Currently, a number of people are eligible to receive course credit through MCC for orchestra participation. These are: MCC students, local high school students, and continuing education.
